Missing Hermans

I put my Hermans in its outside enclosure went back a little later to feed it and its not there. I have had 5 people searching the garden and the neighbours searching theirs and there is no sign. I have rang all the local vets and thr rspca and nothing. I dont know where else to look. I dont want to give up hope yet but it has been missing nearley a week.

Did you have netting over the enclosure? Is it small enough to have been taken by a bird?

Yes there is netting over the enclosure. Its an 07 so its still quite small.

hi i lose mine all the time normally they have tunnelled under the turf ,do you have grass in their enclosure.

Kim if it 07 bred then I would imagine its tiny still, they are so good at digging in especailly under low hanging plants did you do a finger tip search under each plant in the garden, also try a finger tip search within the enclosure it may have buried down a few inches within the area.

aww im sorry to hear this ,i had a temporary rabit run ad a enclosure and my hermans were always geting out they semed to work together they would dig under it then lift with thir shell and all get out
like the guys have said do a finget tip search,i hope you fing the little fella

I would think the same as Darren here, I have a small Hermanns who goes missing all the time, it often takes me over a week to locate him in his enclosure, so don't give up hope yet.

Hi...i have 5 tiny hermanns.....and I only ever see 4 if I look for them...wait till the sun comes out and get down on you hands and knees at tortoise level! One tiny ibera I have I can never find...but in the morning...there she is! She goes into the soil head first st the base of the grasses,,,,you can only just see her bottom!

If the sun comes out in your area today he may come out to bask so keep your lost one last eyes peeled. I thought I lost one last year but he had just burried himself under a tuft of grass in the garden.
