Sherberts Outside Hoose

Hello all,

Sorry for the delay in adding more photos of Sherberts wee hoose but I have been bobbing about in the North Sea for 5 weeks. Here is how it has progressed lately and now the plan is to plant it up tomorrow and add the lids.

Lined and strating to lay slabs

Any ideas of what we should do with his enclosure please let us know.

Well if nothing else it looks like your little boy and dog have enjoyed it - It looks great so far

thats looking really good! the quickest option to get it looking "settled" is turf. and as for planting there is lots of pretty plants to make it look good.

some good plants to start are

hebe
mallow
ornamental grasses
rose bushes ( morrisons do some good mini ones)


just remeber that if a plant is not organic you will need to rinse the root ball and replant it to allow any pesticides and fertilisers to disperse.

Nice enclosure you've got there, I love the little tunnel you've made for him.

Did you line the whole enclosure with slabs? If so then some large, shallowish trays (that you can sink into the soil) with weed seeds in them would be good and you can rotate them. Small hebes, lavenders and conifers are nice plants for little med torts to hide under and you could build up mounds of soil in the corners if you don't have enough depth with the slabs.

Yeah Bert loves his wee tunnel as well he was out for a good few hours playing today.

The slabs are just at the end as I had run out of the lining material and the soil is roughly a foot deep at the shallowest point. My wife has planted it up tonight and it is starting to look good but I think we will get a few more plants tomorrow.

Hi all thanks for the comments and my wife is already trying to work out how many more torts she can get now.

Here are a few more photos of how it looks now all we need to do is add the wee conservatory and his hoose. We are thinking about some turf and some more plants but we want to add more that he can eat and we are not sure whats the best ones to add.

He looks so tiny in his enclosure


The nets are on hinges and can be lifted up and bolted in place for maintanance

Might show my hubby though so he knows what he's doing next summer when mine are a bit bigger.
