hi, my partner bought me a breeding pair of hermanns for our anniversary yesterday, they are both 7 years old, anyway i was just reading through the certificates and they where issued in 2004, now the thing is it goes on to say that the certificates are no good once the plastron reaches 100mm and by the looks of it they are bigger than that(not measured just guessing) so what should i do? should i microchip them and then send the certificates back to have them in my name, sorry for mumbling i just dont have no idea if the certificates are any good?
also do i just take them to my vet to get them microchipped and roughly how much does this cost? |

they should be registered in your name regardless, and while alot of people dont agree with microchipping, what would you do if they were lost or stolen? a microship is the only way they would find their way back to you. Also it means that if you should loose the certificates after they have been changed into your name, you will be able to get replacements pretty easy. If you leave them sat in a drawer now, and dont get them changed, you have no real proof that you owned the animals should go go astray.
chipping costs between £12 and £30 and alot of vets give a local anaesthetic. its quick and easy and gives a litlle peace of mind.
