I was advised that you should have your UV and heat lamp on for 12 hours a day. x

Hey all.im new and was just wondered upon this site whilst browsing.
Anyway couple of years ago for my 18th birthday i decided i wanted a tortoise as my mum had one when she was my age and i loved hearining stories about her , so i decided id give myself a year to learn evrything that my tort would want/need rather than rush into geting one then learning. So last year for my 20th birthday my mum & dad got me a baby horsefield aswell as a ful vivaruim kit. I bought an outdoror shelter etc..........aswel as all the bits needed.
But now im 21 in may and would love to get another tort..do you think id be able to keep two in one vivarium? Id rather just stick to one if its gone to stres my tort .
Measurements are 4 & 1/2 ft by 2ft

Thanks Kerryx

Hi Kerry
Horsfield's don't do well in vivs - you would be better getting an open topped tortoise table, even if you only have the one tort. If you did decide to go for 2 torts you would have to quarantine the 2nd, and the recommended time now is 18 months I believe (up from 6 months). So if you do decide to get a 2nd tort you would need 2 tables until the quarantine period is over. I would suggest you get rid of the viv though and get a tortoise table regardless.
