Is it, or was it, bleeding? If so then I would recommend a trip to a herp specialist vet, it may need antibiotics.
If it's just a simple crack then it may be possible to treat it yourself, you need to clean it and apply iodine solution, or Betadine gel, then let the turt dry out in a warm place for an hour or two. Repet this daily until it heals. In the meantime it should go without saying that the water needs to be kept perfectly clean to avoid infection. Can you post some photos of the turt and setup?
