Default Thinking of getting a Hermans

Hi, I've been thinking of getting a Hermans tortoise for awhile now.

I've just got a few questions before i commit to anything.

How big would a table top enclosure have to be, would 4 foot x 2 foot x 15 inches be sufficient?

Would the following lighting/heating products be sufficient?

Arcadia Fluorescent Lighting Controller/Light Starter Unit

Arcadia Fluorescent Lighting Controller/Starter Unit 9"-48" 4W-3 £17.79 - Pet Zoo Online Reptile Shop & Exotic Pet Store

Exo Terra Repti Glo 10.0 10% UVB Fluorescent Light Tube

Exo Terra Repti Glo 10.0 10% UVB Fluorsecent Light Tube - Reptile UVB Light £13.56 - Pet Zoo Online Reptile Shop & Exotic Pet Store

Dimmable Clamp Lamp
Zoo Med Dimmable Clamp Lamp £23.99 - Pet Zoo Online Reptile Shop & Exotic Pet Store

Basking Spotlamp (60w?)
Eurorep Basking Spotlamp £4.49 - Pet Zoo Online Reptile Shop & Exotic Pet Store

Is there anything in praticular I should?

Thank you very much for all your help!

Liam.

Hi are you thinking of getting a hatchling?
This sounds great for a young one, but as they grow they really do need to expand!
I dont want to put you off but have you thought of an outdoor enclosure too?
Its great that you are looking for things before you commit, I use a combined bulb from Dazzas shop, can send the link if you would like!
best of luck in getting a tortoise!

Hi talktort,

A hatchling or young tortise would be prefered as I'd like to have it from when its a baby

Yes i have thought about keeping them outside however we have a lot of foxes in our area and one particular fox has a visible path through the garden where he has worn the grass down through our garden.

Also I'm living in Dublin and the temperatures do get fairly cold at night, I see that the average temp people keep theirs at is around 32c, we only get 20c on a good summers day if were lucky if this isn't an issue and their ok at these temps then i would happily keep (would 2 be much more work than one than one, would i need a bigger enclosure?) them outside .

If i was to keep them inside how big an enclosure roughly would they need?

Yeah that link would be great, I've been looking at the combined bulb
setups and they look pretty pricey!

Thanks in advance!
