Default Aldabra on a chilly day

Well... as I sat at the computer I could look out into the yard this afternoon. I'm thinking there is no way they are coming out with a daytime high of 47.5 degrees F... then I see Big Al lumbering down to the sunny side of the yard for his daily routine. It is 1pm and he usually is out and about by 7am... but it is Sunday and he probably just slept in.
It's gonna piss me off if I have to carry him back but I've only had to do that once. (Note:150lbs plus)
I realized that alot of people just like looking at the pictures... like me...
Al chillin... again...

Does Al look at all stressed to you???? This totally amazes me. His shell is about 60 to 70 F.

just out of interest if you sat in the same place does it feel warm to you or do they have the ability to absorb heat that we can't feel, its a lovelly photo and he's obviously quite comfortable, mine are still comming out although I've stopped feeding them they were out in the rain yesterday and its usually me thats puts them in before they go in themselves, I've got the door shut today as there was a frost last night so its cold and damp but no doubt they'd come out if I let them , maybe later on

Nope... definately chilly to me but it's a reptile and does not sweat as we do. That's where the chill factor comes in.

I've mentioned before that the shell acts as a kind of solar heating panel... I'm guessing the radiant heat warms the air in the shell and does not let the air out very quickly.

thats a very good point about sweating. the slightest dampness on our skin makes it feel arctic in just a mild breeze. but reptiles wont feel that the same as us.
