Why should 'Pets @ Home' not sell tortoises?

Aye why not? i have found the staff in my local one to be very knowledgeable about the animals they sell and the animals always look well looked after .

My pets at home don't, and won't be, according to them. If pets at home have passed the licensing inspection to allow for tortoises (in my county, you specifically have to ask for tortoises to be added to your license with a max number you can facilitate, showing your facilities and housing) then how is it any different to any other pet shop? A LOT of aquatic places and pet shops that sell furries also sell tortoises, possibly more than actual specialist reptile shops.

Is there anyone who's local is actually selling tortoises who can provide factual information on how they are being kept and with what information / setup they are being sold?

My local has quite emphatically told me that they will not be increasing any of the livestock they sell and will not be selling reptiles or goods, their recent attempt at broadening into inverts and stocking exo terra failed and the reptile products were pulled from that store only last month due to none selling and the space being better used for cat/dog products

yeah and on that petition it goes on about how most "captive bred ones are actually wild caught" this could be the case in any pet shop not just pets at home, so do you want to stop everywhere selling them, coz they just might be wild caught........also, i dont think people are gonna spend £100 pound minimum on an impulse buy....its a bit much.

From what i can gather tortoises are quite expensive, no?

Cards on the table time - I've never been to a 'Pets at Home'. I've had a quick shufti @ their website and they seem to be a 'furry' animal specialist. I'd rather see a petition or approach asking them to sell tortoises with good advice re husbandry. I'd don't think that a petition like this is going to work. They are a commercial organisation responding to demand.

Must agree with you there.... think most of the petitions dont work full stop but they are a means to voice an opinion at the very least.
