Default Hibernating or ill??

I have recently adopted a Moroccan ST who had been living on a balcony for about 2 years-no proper light/heat as far as I know. I have put him under a Sun Glo but he seems much less energetic than my Leo, and doesnt seem to be eating as much either.

Has he gone into hibernation mode or is he ill??

(He doesnt wander round like my Leo either when I get him out his box, but prefers to snuggle his face against something and stay there)

If you are talking of a Southern Moroccan Tgi, these do not hibernate. Do you have a heat lamp on him at all?

Sorry, dunno which part of Morocco hes from.

Yes, he's got a 160w mercury vapour heat/uvb lamp over him most of the day. Only been with me a few days so perhaps I'm asking too much too soon.

This little guy was living on tom skins and cue, cld be why hes a little under the weather.

Are you keeping him hydrated daily?

Thanks for the reply. Only got him Monday, bathed him twice. He had been mistreated and still has silver and green paint on its shell and head.

I will start bathing him everyday if you think it'll help. I wouldnt normally be worried but I am comparing his behaviour with my Leo, and also knowing the dubious conditions he was kept in previously.

I would try not to compare the two, they are very different in behaviour. Weigh him, bathe him and weigh again to see if he is taking any fluids on board. Eventually with correvt temps and hydration he should start to eat. If mistreated though he is bound to take a while to come round the same as any animal.

I wouldn't worry too much just yet. I took on a rescue Moroccan Spur-Thigh a few months ago. He came to me having not eaten for a month. He didn't eat for a further month after coming to me, but when he was wormed, he poohed out a big clump of worms & then seemed to gradually get his appetite back! Now he is doing fantastic & eats like a horse!
