I actually agree with Kevin on this. Heat mats and heat cables are not the best way to do this.

I have always just used a 'Pearlco' overhead ceramic heater run from a pulse-proportional thermostat if overnight heat is required (e.g., for my Egyptian tortoises). It works, it safe, is controllable, is highly reliable, and provides the right kind (and directionality) of heat. These things may cost a few pounds, but they seem to last for ever. I have some 15+ years old, still going strong.

Mines dropped to 13 at the lowest so far and Maudes up each morning when the Megaray kicks in at 7

Im considering a ceramic heater with a PP stat....any idea on best ones to go for??
