Could someone tell me where you can get heat lamp stands from? The ones that the wire wraps round so they stand next to tortoise tables??.. Any shops that sell them? as i need one soon as.

I have them, but always hesitate "punting" too much on the forums. Makes it look like I'm after business....... PM me if you are stuck.

couldn't you use an ordinary house lamp stand if it would take the wattage of the bulb, something like one of those adjustable/bendy desk lamps.

I really would advise getting a proper reptile lamp holder. The typical cheap 'desk lamp' type things rarely last very long if in use 8-14 hours a day, 7 days a week, and the holders are usually just plastic. It gets brittle, and breaks. These things are also a potential fire hazard. A tough, ceramic holder in a proper reptile reflector lamp holder is not much more expensive and will last for years. They are a good investment from every angle: longevity, safety and general reliability.

Every holder ive seen is about £40 and as a student I can't really afford it. I have a lamp on in my room every night of every week and its fine so I dont see how different this could be?
