Well done and congrats x

Congratulations Sarah on both your tunisian and your horsfield hatchlings, they are beautiful, you have had such a fantastic year with your tortoises, well done. I have some more hermans hatchlings due in a couple of weeks. So pleased for you, well done again. Jill. xx

I know this might sound like a daft question, but do you still have to quarentine a new born tort before you would add to another? My medical side says yes and it could have health issues passed onto it from the mother, but just wanted to check.

Now thats a hard question to answer.
Ive had hatchlings off Darren (piglet) and put them straight with mine because i know how he keeps his tortoises and are 100% healthy.
Your choice but i think most will agree i would do a small quarentine of about 3 ish months

Thanks Sarah, I suppose as you say it is a matter of trusting the person you get it from. I only asked as I would like to get a second horsfield but don't really have the space to quarentine and whilst Thomas is still quite small (7cms) I thought that this would be a good solution, obviously I am aware that if they don't get on I would have to separate and could deal with that if I had to. Mmmmmm something to seriously think about.

Very well done, Sarah.

Yes, there is a suggested protocol for quarantine handling of juveniles. It is on my other computer, so I'll post it shortly.
