Smile Heat lamps again.

Does it matter if a heat bulb doesnt have a cover round it?

if theres no way the animal can reach the bulb (eg a leo when the bulb is like 2ft above it) then its fine.

No, so long as it creates a hot spot, but if it has a reflector then it will reflect more heat downwards, making the need for higher wattage unecessary. Depends on how environmentally conscious you are
