HQI or metal halide bulbs?????

hi, I am confused with HQI and metal halide. I do know metal halide is a new product for reptile, it emit enough uvb and light. I come from taiwan, metal halide bulbs is a brand new concept in my country. we don't have mega ray or lucky reptile in taiwan, can i buy a normal philips(hci) or osram(cdm) metal halide bulbs instead of mega ray and lucky?? how much uvb do philips or osram metal halide bulbs produce? thanks.

thank you, i still have a question. there are so many kinds of metal halide bulbs, do they all emit sufficient uvb? Osram Osram HQI-TS 150W D Double Ended Metal Halide this is a double-end metal halide bulb, i have heard that double-end metal halide bulbs don't produce uvb, is that right? Osram HQI-T 70W/WDL this is single-end metal halide bulbs, do this kind of bulb produce uvb?? Osram Metal Halide Light Bulbs there are so many types of MH bulbs, do they all produce sufficient light,heat and uv???? it is really confusing me. i could not buy mega ray or lucky reptile in my country. the pet store in my country do not have or sell mega ray or lucky reptile. so i am looking for a substitute.

The bulbs you are linking to are most likely seen in standard car head lamps and other high wattage flood lamps.

They are not suitable for tortoise's as they emit high powered direct beams of light.

You have two choices.

You can use a standard incandescant bulb for the basking spot, pereferably a spot light bulb and UV tubes at 10%

Or you can get a MVB, Mecury Vapour Bulb which emits light, heat and UVB/A.
