Exclamation Different Reptiles Together??

This morning i visited a aquatic centre near me that also sells reptiles. I noticed in one vivarium 7 different species of reptiles and just wondered is it very safe doing this, with the different kind of faeces in there. The reptiles were:

Horsfield Tortoises (i think)
Redfoot Tortoise
Tete Thick Toed Gecko
Spinytail Iguana
Baby Green Basilics
Brown Anoles
and maybe a Pancake tortoise (never seen one but the tort was very flat)

pics below

Pancake??

There was also Horsfield Torts with Water Dragons and Jewelled Curlytail Lizards in a different vivarium.

Surely this cant be good for all the reptiles??

Did you ask them why they're all in one viv? Or voice your concern?

No i didnt, i assumed that them being a big company and having more than one centre they would know more about it than me. I only have Hermanni Hermanni and i dont know the husbandry of other tortoises. I just thought this seemed a bit wrong having them all together like that.

That's right, not good at all, particularly when they may well have come from different suppliers and different original sources. All pet shops have a duty to care for their charges correctly under the new laws. You could try contacting the RSPCA or your local licensing officer. It might not get you anywhere but if several people do, then you never know.

I agree i would tell someone like the RSPCA just to at least let yourself know you tried and told people incase it's awfully bad and it could be stopped...

I think i will call the RSPCA. I didnt want to stir s**t up if having them live like that was okay.

I always think the first person to voice a concern to is the pet shop owner. Sometimes they can be very receptive and willing to listen. If you don't feel that's appropriate then the person you need to voice any concerns to is the Pet Shop Licencing Officer at your local council. They are the people who inspect the shop and issue the licence.
