Default A brief update of my poor turtles

A brief update of my poor turtles
I named one of them small blacky and other one big blacky. Couldn’t have better name for them because my English knowledge.

Small blacky:
She is the one that floating with a horizontal angle a lot before. The horizontal angle means that 1/3 of her shell is exposed on water surface, just like a piece of wood floating in water, and with difficulty to dive. Amazingly since yesterday, she almost stopped swimming like that. When her head stick out of the water, her butt is acting like a weight that dragging her downwards. This is a normal turtle stay in water I think. That is a good sign. Right?
The other difference is that before, she bask a lot! Almost 24 hours a day. since yesterday, she more likes to stay in water. But she spent last night on basking area.
What does this mean? Is she getting better because the rot tissues removed and antibiotics worked?
She didn’t eat anything today, and yesterday. Not move as much as before.

Big blacky:
She started to float like SB did yesterday. Always stay dry, enjoy heating and UV light a lot! With her head and four limbs extended outside the shell.
She ate about 10-15 grams fresh trout meat dusted with nutrobal. (I didn’t find the RepToMin in the reptile shop today, I have been to two shops, both of them don’t have it. I tried King British Turtle diet, but no one like it. I will order RepToMin online)

I bought Vetadine today, but don’t know how to use it.
Need your instruction here, what is the generally dilution ratio? And what to do with it? rub or rinse or bath the wound? Btw, their wounds are on the belly, all the rot spot.
Still haven’t spoke to my vet! I don’t know his number; have to call the hospital reception! Nobody call me back! Do you have your vets number? and can you speak with them when you are not in an appointment?

I want to use vatedine is because its label says ‘for use as an aid to veterinary treatments…….including rot shell.
And this is for reptiles not for horses and sheeps.

I would get back to your vet tomorrow.

When you see turtles floating like that, it suggests a number of possible things could be wrong... it needs a professional diagnosis. We would normally rely on an x-ray to help find out what is happening in a situation like that. They will help to reveal any possible pneumonia on the lungs or excess gas in the digestive tract, for example.

It really is important to work closely with your vet on this.

Your task is to provide good general care while they are under treatment. That means very clean water and the correct water, air and basking temperatures. Let your vet do the diagnosing and decide the best therapy.

All anyone here can really advise is that these symptoms are serious and you need to go back to your vet.

Hardly the best, I'd like to think I know a fair bit about keeping turts after 25 years, but there are others on here who know a lot more than I do!

I would agree with Andy, the vet seems to know what he's doing and he's actually seen and examined the turts, something we can't do. I would trust his judgement and hope that the treatment works, and just keep the turts in the best conditions you can in the meantime.

Given the symptoms it sounds as though the vet is doing everything I would expect him to.

Even though I do not have turtles I do still read the posts - I know there are a few people on here that offer good advice on turtles too Graham but you are always consistant and make every effort to answer all posts.

That goes along way into making you "one of the best"
