Default Do I need to quarantine?

I have 2 Horsfield's that will be 2 in June. I am planning on getting a 3rd in March/April from the same breeder. The new tort was born last August so there is a year difference.

Do I need to quarantine the new tort or will they be OK as they have come from the same source?

I was in the same situation as you (but a little less time) and added two more from the same breeder... I didn't quarantine as I totally trust her. If I had any more from her in the future... which I probably will... then I wouldn't quarantine then either. The size difference should be fine with yours as well, I have one who is 3 this year and two who are 2 this year so different in size but they get along fine.

What does your breeder recommend? I know that he'll give you perfect advice.

The breeder said that it will be fine just to introduce right away, which is what I am probably going to do, but I just wanted to get other's opinions first. My 2 are onky small torts anyway, so I don't think the size will be too much of an issue.

It depends on who the breeder is and if they are solely a breeder or a commercial outlet that also buys tortoises in. If from the same source exactly then quarantine is not necessary and could just stress the animal if it is used to other company, also from the same source.
Hope this helps

Oh I think I remember where you had your torts from - be guided by what he says as you will not get better advice

Yep, you remember correctly. Glad to hear that. He really is super helpful. I've got my answer now, I will be putting the baby tort with my other 2 as soon as I get him/her! I think I may start getting excited soon!!

Right I've now cleaned up this thread a little and I suggest you all play nicely from here in and keep to topic.
