Just a quick question guy's, one of our Tort's is now big enough to be microchipped (100mm plastron lenght according to the book's!)
Now what i was wondering is does it have to be done by a Reptile vet or can a normal vet's do it?? Thank's in advance for any reply's! ![]()

It is best if you use a vet who is experienced at doing this in tortoises. It can go (badly) wrong - though it is generally a safe procedure if done properly.

personally I'd wait untill your tort is a bit bigger, the chip is about the size of a rice grain so the inserter has to be big enough to take it, it will go in a back leg and when small theres not a lot of leg to take it, my adults have been done but my hermans who are now 3 are still only just big enough you need a nice big fat leg with enough loose skin.
