It's not normally a good idea to keep two males together, it can be done, but they can be territorial and may become aggressive, especially in the confines of a tank.
A M/F pair is not a good idea either, when they become sexually mature the female is liable to be pestered incessantly by the male, a ratio of at least 3 females to one male is much better. A pair of females would eventually require a very large tank, they are excellent swimmers and will make the most of deep water, something around 500-600 litres, so a 5 x 2 x 2 or 6 x 2 x 2. Have a read of this caresheet which should answer most of the basic questions... The Terrapin Tank • View topic - Map Turtles.
