Default Alfagrog

I am struggling to find a place up here that sells Alfagrog. I have looked online and found a company that sells 3.5kg bags for £9.99 plus around £7 for delivery. Is this too expensive?

Is this the stuff you use for your filter? Could you not use charcoal instead?

Yes it's filter media. I should have specified that in my opening post

Not sure about charcoal though?

I think I have found a better deal:

Rainbow Koi - 6*Alfagrog 15KG

Is this the correct stuff to buy for my external filter?

Charcoal is a chemical filter that needs replacing every month (although will work biologically to a certain extent, but not sufficiently),alfagrog or similar has a much better surface area for aerobic bacteria to colonise.

Yes that's the right stuff and not a bad price if it includes delivery.

Charcoal is not what you want at all!

I got my 15kg bag of Alfagrog delivered today. Do I have to rinse the Alfagrog through first before it is put it in the filter?
