my friend has a female that he is looking to hopefully mate.problem is he needs to borrow a male.will offer to split clutch etc.is in birmingham.please pm me with details and can pass on to him.thanks

sorry but I doubt you will find anyone who is willing to mate their tort with another due to the risk of infection etc, theres a minimum of 6 months quaranteen before introducing another tort so I think if your friend wants to breed he will be looking at getting his own male. He'll also have to be prepared to keep them apart if they don't get on and breeding from torts isn't easy it can take years before you have everything right and then you still run the risk of infertile eggs or of them not hatching.

I'm not an expert on tort breeding so I am sure someone else will confirm, but surely you can't just put 2 torts together for them to mate like dogs due to them needing to be quarantined for 12-18 months first?
