Default Nearly finished the outside enclosure

I have nearly finished my outside enclosure and thought i would share some pics with you.

I made a box for them out of pallets

I found some old legs off some ikea furniture to raise it off the ground and covered the box with a tort friendly wood sealant thingy. I just need to felt the top and insulate the inside of the box.

Once i did the box i dug the garden up and put mesh under it at the depth of 2 feet.

Then with the rest of the pallets and the wood i bought today i made the sides for the enclosure

Of course theres a ramp going in silly, they would be stuffed if i didnt. Ive got my wood sorted for it but havent decided if to cover it with the roof felt for grip which the torts might nibble at or putting slats on the ramp for them to climb up with, cant decide on that one.

Should be getting the wood and mesh for the lid either today or tomorrow so just the plants and weeds etc to move in then its nearly finished

Oh and ive got to sort my cctv out which might be a bit of a chore

It looks great.

Look forward to seeing it finished and your little torts in situ.

Not a bad guess at the size, its 11 and half feet by just over 3 feet. Wanted to make it wider but the garden is very narrow.

My biggest tort is my female tillie and she is nearly 6 inches so there will be ample room for her and Mr T.

Im not putting in any lamps, just a ceramic heater in the tort box to keep them warm at night. Having trouble getting hold of a decently priced outside electric socket setup with a decent length of cable. So i might have to bring the torts inside each night until i can sort the electrics out or if the night time temps pick up a lot i can leave them in their box without heat.

Hope you have a good time building your enclosure and dont have too many problems.

Thanks Tina! I cant wait til its finished. I put the torts in for a "dry run" and they seemed to like the size of it, im just itching to get in the garden and finish it off for them.

Hi chris-greg, your tort enclosure looks fab!! But how come you can keep your male and female together? Does the male not pester the female?
I have a male and female too, 5 years old and I have to separate my indoor and outdoor enclosures up , as the male is constantly ramming her shell and biting her legs!! your lucky if yours don"t do that!!
