Default staying out over night??

Hi All

Im just in the process of starting to think about building an out door enclosure for mt 2 18month old Hermans.Ive been getting some good ideas off of the forum on basic runs,4 sides, topsoil, wire netting and a wooden house for them to go in.My Question is will it do them anyharm to put them out in the morning and bring them back in late at night or in there wooden house have i got to put a heat lamp inside and keep them out 24/7?Thats the part im dreading as it means building a bigger house than anticipated when i havent got that much room and having to source a power socket. Also is it ok to put the frame straight on to concrete slabs and put soil on top or should there be a floor built to the frame??

Thankyou

Paul

they can quite happily just go out throught the day, the only inconveneince is to yourself, however if you work make sure they know and are using their house or have plenty of other shelter should the weather change through the day, having a heat source is nice and they will learn where it is but its not a must and many owners don't have that luxury, try to build their enclosure so it gets as much sun as poss they'll soon shelter if they get to hot. I'd have thought putting soil etc on concrete isn't a problem at least they can't dig their way out its just an alternative to wire but have enough depth so that if you do put any plants in there they will survive and the torts can dig if they want to.If your building your soil depth up rather than down you'll have to have your solid sides of the run higher thats all . Whether your soil will become water logged with a concrete base i'm not sure as I just thought it might not be able to drain away?

I have my pen placed onto concrete and I have no issues whatsoever about drainage
