Smile First tortoise

I have been doing research and i would like to know if anyone can give me some advice on the basics i will need to keep my tortoise? i will be getting it as soon as iv bought all the equipment of course any info on them would be appreciated... cheers

It would depend on what species you are going to buy. Let us know and I am sure who ever is around will help you out

There are some stickies at the top of the board that will help as well

Well I don't keep Horsfields myself, but they are pretty much the same as Hermann's, apart from the fact they like to dig burrows and live in them. So you need an enclosure with deep soil in for them to do it. If you are keeping the tort in an outdoor enclosure then you will need some sort of wire under it so the tort can't dig out.

Basking temps and food are the same as the Hermann's so if you read the "stickie" on Med torts it should really tell you all you need I would think. But if you have any questions just shout

tortoise table, lamp holder combined bulb or uv tube and heat bulb, substrate, hide, water dish, feed dish, slate for basking area, two thermometers, nutrabol supplement, limestone flour, cuttle fish, a few rocks etc for decoration.

I think thats about it lol.oh and an outdoor enclosure.
