Default yellow bellied slider question

i am considering getting one of these little cuties, (i know they get bigger) probably in about 6to 12months. i can't decide whether to start them in a tank or straight into a pond? the size tank i was thinking of using is 36in x 18in x 15inches.
the pond would be something like this
LOTUS TOUGHLINE POND WREN
which could be indoors or out.
i also have a fluval 104 external filter which used to be for my aquarium that now holds my newts. would that be any good? any suggestions?

If they are hatchlings I would start them in the tank, the fluval 104 is rather small though, it's only rated for 100 litre aquariums, and with turts being much messier than fish we normally recommend using a filter rated for two or three times the volume, making the 104 suitable for only 33-50 litres which is nothing at all.
