hello i am getting a tortoise soon and i was thinking of gettings a hermanns but whats the smallest you can get in that price range ?

and should i use a uv tube or bulb and do they need heat mat ?

ino they need uv but a tube or a vapour bulb ?
and can they live on straw ?

uv tube should be fine and topsoil/playsand mix is what most people recommend

Dont take this the wrong way but if you're serious about getting a tortoise, you need to spend time reading all the stickies here and going back through all the posts. There's a lot to learn. Being reptiles, they have very specific requirements and will take up a lot of your time and money if they are to thrive in your care.
