Default My turtles are acting strange

I have two baby red eared sliders, they have been with me for 5 months. One of them (the bigger one) always gets on top of the other one and until now I thought this was normal, but earlier, I put them on a bigger tank (while I washed theirs) and I noticed the little one (Divico) seems scared of the bigger turtle (Vitica).
Vitica was getting close to Divico, and Divico tried to run away from her. Then, Vitica continued to get close to Divico, and she started to "smell" his head and feet , I thought she would bite him .
Do you consider this behaviour normal, or should I be worried?

Suggest that the two are separated, as obviously one of them sounds like it is being intimidated- (bullied), by the other. Are they both feeding normally?

I'm afraid that not all animals will get along - even when it is a social species - and, from experience, I can tell you that some turtles are just bullies!
We have a young (3 or 4 years old) male turtle who is very domineering and will snap at the feet of the other turtles, I hoped he would grow out of it, until one day I saw him grab one of the others by the foot and pull it off the dock, he wasn't going to let go. He has since been separated. He is in a very basic tank - in a room away from all the others and the tank is so peaceful since we separated him. Every couple of weeks or so we try to introduce him back - hoping he will have learned it's much nicer in with the other turtles but so far we have introduced him three times and all three times he's gone for someone.
Your turtle is not being quite as aggressive as ours but is certainly dominating the smaller one (possibly why it is smaller, as the big one is asserting his claim over space, food, best basking, etc)
If you have the opportunity to separate them then I would. Put the domineering one in the smaller tank, with his basics, and allow the smaller one to gain confidence in the bigger tank.
Good luck.

The bigger one eats a LOT more than the small one. I've been thinking that maybe she doesn't leave enough food for the smaller one.
I'll look into separating them as soon as I can, but unfortunately the other tank is often used for stuff in the house (it's not exactly a tank, I just don't know how to call it in English ) so I'll have to wait until I have enough money to but another one.
Thanks a lot for your answers, they have been very helpful .

If you are worried about the bigger one eating more you can separate them during feeding. Try not to over feed cos it can lead to problems further down the line. They say feed the amount that would fill the turtles head (weird comparison I know!)
Good luck with them.

For the past days I've found the big turtle trying to bite the small one
Right now I can't put them in different tanks, so, do you think it will do any good if I slightly pat the big turtle when she does this - just to scare her a little bit?
