Default Interesting article about methods for assessing wild tortoise abundance

Hi

I posted this on another forum but thought it may be of interest here too

It tests the use of local knowledge for estimating abundance. It could be used for any animal but it is tested on T. Graeca. One of the benefits of this method is it is far cheaper than line transect surveys etc. Obviously there are issues of reliability etc but these results look promising

seeing that site made me realise how much i miss my Athens account. maybe i should sign up to do another degree JUST so i can have access to all the decent journals again!

i found a wonderful article (completely by accident) about the impact of captive farming on wild caught stock and its financial bennefit on local african communities......it was really indepth and easy to understand. then my computer died and didnt save the page. i have never been able to find it again!

Oh I know - I love my Athens account, I was gutted when I changed jobs and lost it in between!

That article sounds good - I may try to see if I can find it somewhere... any idea what journal it was in?
