Exclamation Is this normal

Hi all,
I'm new to this, have had my Herman tortoise for 2years an he has been a lovely healthy pet and still is, however over the last few days he has taken to spending all day and night camped out in his water dish???? I'm a little anxious that everything is normal with him as he's not done this before. He is eating ok and seems as alert as ever.

If anyone can help or advise, I would be very greatful.

Many thanks in advance

Steph

Is he indoors or outdoors - if indoors can you tell us a bit about his table ie temps, substrate etc., What sort of diet is he on and how often does he have a bath?

Sorry for the questions its just a bit easier to work out when we all have the info

he is in a viv (not ideal i know) but soon to be in an open top table (under construction as we speak) he has a heat lamp an 10.0 uv tube. there is stones an wood chippings in there, we feed him mixed leaves an use nutrabol daily. He has a bath 2-3 times a week and comes out for exercise most days.

Hope this helps

Have you any idea what the temperatures are in the viv - under his basking light and down the cooler end - I was wondering if he was too hot??

And yep you're right a viv isn't deal - well done you for taking the step to sort it out for him
