Default microchipping tortoises

Hiya

My 2 larger hermanns are 04 born and 06 born... I think without checking...

The older is over 100mm, so really needs to be chipped.

Will this be around 20 quid as i have been told, or likelly to be alot more?

Also, will the vet chip the smaller of the two aswel, or wait till she is over 100mm too?

Also, do hermanns over 100mm HAVE to be chipped before sale?

As far as im aware, tortoises dont need to be chipped! thatswhat i got told awhile back by DEFRA its either that or they lied. otherwise i would not of sold my pair.

im sure the vet will still microchip the smaller one.

yes they do need microchiping, if you intend to sell once there over 100 mm, if the small one is under 100mm you dont need to spend money getting it done before you sell it.However if your going to keep them you dont need to its only if you are selling.

So, i am right in thinking you need to chip the tort if its over 100mm and you wish to sell, or if you wish to breed it...

Med tortoises, graeca, ibera, hermans, marginata all need artical ten certs to be sold.
They have to be microchipped if being sold once they reach four inchs in length. Hatchlings just need the artical ten certs.
Horsfields, leopards and a few others dont.
