Cool Is this a healthy horsfield tortoise?

I got him/her about a week ago and I am wondering if this is healthy.
He is about 100g/4oz in weight and I have measured him and he is about 7.6cm/3 inches in length. Is this healthy for a horsfield?
Also, how old would he roughly be??

You can check his SCL/weight ratio on the McIntyre ratio (do a google search and you'll find it) though it's not 100% correct it might set your mind at rest as a new keeper.

You've only had him a week so he'll be settling in still so perhaps won't behave totally normally. If he's eating, basking, peeing, pooing etc etc then you have nothing to worry about... but give him chance to settle.

Have a look through these...

And just keep posting and asking if you have any concerns. Try not to get hung up about his age... it doesn't really matter... taking good care of him and enjoying him is more important.

all sounds fine!! He looks nice and healthy - if his eyes are nice and bright, his nose isn't snotty or bubbling and he's basking, roaming around a bit, sleeping, eating, drinking, peeing and pooing then there's nothing to worry about

It can take them a good few weeks to settle in somewhere new so try not to panic and worry so much - learn to just simply enjoy the little guy! Sounds like you've got a lovely happy healthy tortoise there!

The worrying and panicking is all totally normal and we all do it
