I had the pleasure to meet Chris Newman recently(At the Maidstone breeders Expo)...He didn't hesitate in shaking my hand and having a chat with me, what a nice guy.

I like to make my own mind up about people on how they treat and speak to me personally rather than listen to some saddo.

The tortoise world appears to have quite a few saddos in it from what I've heard Shame really cos the tortoises are lovely!!

I agree with Mrs M, but I also have no idea who Chris Newman is either
I have seen his name mentioned a few times but thats it.
I take it he is a chelonia man, and an important name for Paul, otherwise he wouldnt have mentioned it

Chris Newman, is indeed a very nice guy, and very well connected in the UK and European Reptile trade. He was formally the editor of a successful UK Reptile magazine "Reptilian", and works regularly as a trade consultant on all manner of Herptofauna issues.
I suppose, it might be seen as contentious that he has been at times in active debate with a number of other Chelonian people, and at times, some of this debate has been sadly vitriolic. The recent spat involved the Slovenian Tortoise Farm question.
This debate, on the forum quickly escalated into some very nasty personal attacks, which were in my opinion largely ill informed.
Chris and a few others have personally visited the sites in Slovenia, and hopefully will soon publish a report on the phenomenon, that is Tortoise Farms, and get some clarity on a subject which should be of interest to all of us in the hobby.
