hey people, i know i sound like a clone of someone else in a simmilar predicament, but i have recently saved a yellow belly terrapin from my dreded sister, i have its diet down, its tank it's in is 23.5x14x12 inches, i have about 7 inches of water in it, i replaced its turtle dock (because of algae) with some drift wood (boiled and cleaned) to bask in, it didn't have a the uv light so i gave it an exo terra sun globaskin spot lamp, the terrapin is about 4 inches in shell, i do have an internal pump in with her for now but after reading everyone wants an external i'll be swapping it for one. hopefully im able to attach i picture, can anyone give me any other advice or correct me on what ever.

a tank that size won't last very long as these turtles get to be very big aound 12inch or dinner plate size, they grow fast as youngsters, mine are already on their 2nd pond and they are only around 4 years. If you're going to spend on a external filter then get the biggest you can afford as they will soon be needing it, to be honest if you can't think about providing the turtle a pond in the future and a much bigger tank then you'd be best trying to rehome it now while its still small as no one wants them as adults.

How To - Post pictures using Photobucket.
that will help with the pictures. as already said that tank won't last long. you could also do with more water in there if it is a yellow belly slider then they are excellent swimmers so the more water you can give it the better. |
