DEFRA help please?

Hiya,
I`m currently trying to apply for DEFRA Article 10s for two tortoises and i'm running into a few problems.
The tortoises were given to me and are an adult pair. They originally came from a garden centre somewhere and that is literally all i know.
For their article 10s i need to state the country of origin, and back in up...i suspect they would be LTC to be honest due to their ages but i don't know for sure...and i need to state where they were sourced from, in my case unknown, but i need to justify that their source is unknown, how?

Is it better for me to give DEFRA a ring or will i likely spend a fortune on a phone talking to someone who hasn`t got a clue?

If they can't issue certificates without proof of origin am i pretty much at a dead end?

I'd ring them at Stafford and have a chat if they don't know they generally have someone get back to you who can help - well that's always been my experience with that particular office over the years.

Tortoises with no history or certs, you used to able to apply for a breeding certificate, which means you cant sell the tortoises but you can sell any off springs.
But it could have changed when they started charging for certs.
Its always worth a phone call to DEFRA.
