Default Eye infection

My tortoise Ted has an eye infection. I have been washing it out every 2 hours with a bi-carb solution and it seams to be clearing it up nicely and the swelling is going down. I have also given him a long warm bath. He has eaten a bit of mushroom and some Kewi but not as much as he normally would. Ive not put his light on him today incase it irritates him. Ive got the heating turned up though so that it is still warm for him.
Is there anything else i can do for him ?. (He is a Bells)

I have used cod liver oil on a cotton wool bud twice a day for my Leopard who had problems with her 3rd eyelid.

You do need to wipe away from their nares as they dont like the smell.

I hope he gets better soon.

Or artificial eye drops from the chemist can help with some injured eyes.
But if it does not clear up then you might have to take your tortoise to the vet.
It depends on whether its an infection/injury, or just a husbandry problem.

Im very happy to report that Teds eye is alot better today. He was poking his head out this morning waiting for breakfast. His eye was wide open . Im so proud of him letting me washing it all of yesterday without a fuss. I might post some photos of it from yesterday and today incase it can help someone else out and stop some panic if it happens to thiers.

Aww, poor Ted. His eye looks really angry in that first pic. I'm glad he's better today
