I've fed mine chicken and other meats in the past, but these days I try to keep their diet to things they might eat naturally, once in a while the more carnivorous Musks still get the odd bit of lean beef though.

I no mine was fed purely chicken and lettuce when i got her she was really ill. Shes getting better all the time now and is losing her old damaged scutes and is getting new coloured ones. Shes also been shedding skin and her colours have brightened right up. Its put me off chicken altogether tho.

I feed mine bloodworm, tubifex,algae pellets, shrimp, king british complete terrapin food, a high calcium food cant think what its called but its a tubular food especially for terrapins. She also gets different weeds in there as well

Tuna, Trout and snails also make good treats.....

I usually stand in the garden with a hose pipe spraying the grass until they pop out .....

regarding the chicks
i don't think the fur would bother them, i mean in the wild they don't pluck it before they eat it
