Question Do Turtles Hibernate?

I've been noticing a lot of threads about tortoises hibernating and it suddenly dawned on me that I don't know if turtles also hibernate? Do they?

They do in the wild, but you don't have to if they live inside. if you have a big deep pond outdoors, they can hibernate in there. Or you can bring them in to a tank

yes they do when outside or in the wild. i will be hibernating ours next year as we are extending the pond so it will be larger and deeper. then they will be outside all year round. although i will be panicking every second

Yes they do, but most people don't bother!

I believe getting the conditions right is more difficult than with the tortoises!

They will hibernate when it gets cold enough...... All my outdoor setups are either under polytunnels or in a big half brick greenhouse which is often warmer than our house in the middle of winter.......

I'd be rubbish with a tort, I'd be waking it up every few hours to see if it's still alive...... I think I'll stick to things that don't hibernate.......
