I was the same as you. Im getting mine this week. I have been reconmended a Musk turtle. They a hardy little turtle, only grow to about 5.5 inches max. They are bottom walkers so a longtank is needed more so than height. Im gtting one thats 30 inchess long, 15 wide and 20 high.

If you gonna have a high tank, you should have plenty of things for it to climb on as they are not the best swimmers, you also must have a basking area, everyone recomended corkbark that can be wedge in.

Get a good filter, external. Make sure it can cycle atr least double the size of your tank, eg if you have a 100 litre tank, make sure the filter is for a tank at least 200 but even better 3-4 times. Im getting a eheim 2217, again reconmended on here, this is one of the more expensive things you have to get other than the actual tank.

Other things im including in mine is Duckweed ,another plant that i cant spell, cork bark, getting stones today at my closest beech as well as some driftwood if i can find any.

If you can set your heat lamp high enough, get a combi bulb, they more expensive but last longer and are generally better, but make sure you get a lamp that is ceramic and can hold the wattage.

Thats all i can remember for now, im no expert so if i said anything wrong, im sure the others will correct me.

got to admit, above poster did pretty damned well lol.

Musks are the smallest readily available, and to be honest, i cant think of anything else youre going to need other than whats aleady been stated.

Avoide stones that are going to be big enough to fit in their moutsh as it might kill them

Good Luck

Got if from ebay. took his time delivering it, when it was the box was flimsy, the only padding he had was some empty cardboard boxes and a few bits of styrofoam or something about an inch thick. W

Clearseal are "generally" cheaper than other tanks since all you get for your money is glass lol. no lids and other bits just a tank.
