My chickens....!

On the subject of filters though, it sounds as though it may be time to make your own, it's very easy and you can get everything you need from the plumbing department of your local DIY store, and it's cheap too.

All you need is a plastic box, some plastic pipe and push-fit connectors, and a submersible pump, Eheim make some excellent ones that are quite reasonably priced, or I have found the Atman range to be very good if you're on a budget.

Lovely chickens Graham

I think you should do another sticky on how to make your own filters I'm really keen to do this. Will have to chat to the OH, I'm currently trying to convince him it'll be fun making a new tort table! He'll like helping me make a filter though it's a bit more technical!

I think I have quite a clear idea of how to do it. Maybe I'll just try and see if it works!

Ones down the gfs rents garden are a bit of a mixture They have some prize bantams and a fewer rare breed hens theyve got about 20 atm including a few that have been rescued from battery (prob wrong spelling) farms

Fluval FX5's are great but most of the ones sold on ebay only come with foam and you are required to purchase bio balls or whatever other media you require.

You should check out tetratec ex1200's to if you do manage to find the space to go down the canister line. I saw a friends tank running the ex1200 the other day and he only had good things to say about it
