My PLants arrived today, i ordered Duckweed, and elodea (sp) However i also got Rumex and Azolla Free with the Duck weed. Anyone use it? Know what it is? Good or Bad?
Plus the Elodea has lead tied round it, do i take if off or do i keep it on? Thanks Last edited by Christy06; 05-11-2009 at 01:39 PM.. |

The azolla (fairy moss) and rumex (water dock) will be fine - although I think the water dock needs to be planted?... not sure, never used it myself.
And yes, take the lead weights off the elodea - it will float near the surface and give the musk something to rest/bask on.

You really don't have to worry about baby snails with a musk turtle about... they'll be dinner!
It shouldn't clog the filter... the duckweed and fairy moss are surface plants. Your filter inlet will be well below water level. You may get broken off bits of elodea sticking to the inlet filter basket, but you can easily keep an eye on this and clear it.
