hmm havent had this problem with any sort of external filter ive ever used...although saying that i do tend to pump mine as opposed to the suck through and risk a mouthful of beautifulness.....

You normally wait until its syhponing itself, then as soon as it stops syphoning, turn it on and then it generally does it. Dont you do that with the eheim/

with mine, fluval 205, i have a manual pump that i pump which pulls water through the tank, after so much water has gone through, it pumps itself (the air is being pulled out of the pump) And then once its finished pushing out by itself i have to plug my filter in.

Hard to explain, its like a little tag that i pull up and down to make the air and water syphon through.

Think i got it working after many skitso attacks and alot of and even more . My question is, if i was to turn it off, would i have all the same problems?

oh and its not the quietest thing in the world, is it ment to be noisy? it isnt the loud scrapping noise from the motor i heard earlier but still running noise is loud.

If it's noisy it's almost certainly due to bubbles in the impeller housing, try turning the whole filter upside down for a minute (while it's running), this should cure it, although it may take a few minutes to settle down afterwards.

If you turn it off, so long as the ends of both tubes remain underwater, you shouldn't have the same problem when you switch it on again, as it will have been impossible for any air to enter the system.

Your initial problems will have been caused by an airlock, unlike some other filters the Classics don't have fancy priming pumps, but once you know how to set them up it's easy, and their quality and efficiency more than make up for the lack of frills!

well it seems to be working although still seems to be alot of debris like bits of sand or dirt at the bottom of the tank, this normal?

Noise is reduced although i didn do anything, the currant seems good and the turt seems happy. Thanks guys.

I took out most of the media, only have the one blue pad and the white one. Have Alphagrog ordered ,hope to get that early next week and about to ordered Filter floss if i can get some.

Graham, you said as long as air dont get in i wont have any problems, if im changing the Media which i have too, will air not get in then? will i just have to let it work its a out again?

Off topic but still relevent, how long can a turt hold its breath under water?
