if your thinking about making an incubater can I suggest that you buy a pulse thermostat as an ordinary one allows to much variation in temps before kicking in and with eggs you need to be precise. They are fairly costly, in fact it was the most expensive thing I had to buy for the incuabater about £50 but its worth it, mine is a Living Earth Habistat, they will also work with a ceramic bulb as the heat source, a ordinary house bulb will also work but he flashing on and off is annoying.

hi ,if your leopard has laid an egg on the surface this almost definately means she has more inside and has only dropped this one because she cant find a suitable nesting site.although getting an incubator set up is a good idea you really need to think of her health and provide a suitable site so she can lay the rest of the clutch.when they retain eggs there is a serious danger of them becoming over calcified or breaking so please make every effort to provide a good depth of soil with basking light so she can get warm enough to lay.the only other alternative is an xray and oxytoxin injection unfortunately this is not always successful the first time and may need to be repeated.the best way is getting them to nest themselves otherwise they can take some time to settle after being induced.

I think that is excellent advice Terry - I would air on the side of caution and think about xray and oxytocin if nothing happens over the next couple of days. I have had one of my girls lay 3 times this year in the garden and then Ernie was induced after her xray showed 7 eggs - but of course you'll remember all this as you coached me through it !!!
