Default No paperwork

When I bought my tortoise two years ago, in the advertisement it said doesn't come with paperwork as the tortoise was rescued. Back then I was inexperienced about tortoises and didn't realise that you had to have paperwork to legally sell. I was just wondering should I be worried and try and contact the owner again? Or is it not a major problem?

Assuming it's a species which requires paperwork......

If you're not planning on selling it, it's no problem. If you want to breed or sell it, it is illegal to sell it or its offspring without article 10's.

As long as you dont try and sell him or breed him i dont think it'll be a problem.
I think *unfortunately* two years is too long a time to report this person.

Thankyou for your replies. He's a spur-thighed, but I won't be selling/breeding so it's all good.

it might still be worth getting in touch with Defra and explaining the situation, I'm sure they'd rather help make torts legal with paperwork if they can.
