Default Best Substare for Tort

Other than soil/sand. I find it really tedious having to water the soil every couple of days as it drys out really quick. If i over water it it causes problems and if i under water it gets dusty. So what would you all reconmend?

I have before, Hemp, Wood chippings, Timothy Hay and i am currently using top soil. Any other good ones that dont need immediate attention every other day

Plus its hard to do a spot check whenb the poo is the same colour as the soil.

I use plain soil at one end (found the sand irritated his eyes) and readigrass at the other which is what he chooses to dig down in to to sleep.

He has not really got cold enough then, as most speices will dig in at night when temps drop
This is not completely covered just digging in the front half.

I took the temp of her enclosure at 1.30am and it was reading 20/68 so that might be one reason she not burying herself. She use to bury under the hemp all the time when i had it, i just thought becasue i have topsoil she just didnt or couldnt.

Eco earth is good if you have your tort inside. Its in a block form that you soak in water first. I find that it dont dry so quickly as top soil.

Mine is the same, he won't burry himself under the soil, not sure if is just lazy or a duff digger, only ever does it under the readigrass.
