Default Horsfield tortoise sleeping

I've got a baby horsfield whos about 1 and he has a basking light on and uv on all day but he still seems to sleep for a long time like nearly all day. He also moves his head as though he has hiccups. He was on a bad diet originally but hes on a weed and wild flower one now I was thinking perhaps the change in diet could cause problems. I've only had him 3 weeks. Would be glad of any advice.

Aww bless

Might be an idea to get him up and bathe him in the morning, about an hour after the lights come on. While he's in the bath, get his food ready so when he goes back in the table it's all laid out for him.

I've seen some recommend that the lights are on for 14-16 hours a day at the mo, to trick them into thinking it's summer. But I've also read loads of threads from people struggling to keep their horsfields awake just now. Apparently they're the most stubborn!

Thanks anythingwithashell! I will give him a morning bath then, before I go to college. He is stubborn he keeps trying to bury himself under my leg and under the sofa he won't believe that he can't fit! xx
