apparently they are both about 6, but are about the size of a hand? dont know if that sounds right for the age and the sex is unknown
hopefully they will be in good condition as ive not yet seen them they sound like they have been well cared for.

Well, if they're 6 years old and the size of a hand, they're probably both male. Although I guess it depends on the size of the hand! A 6 year old female would be bigger than the average hand, I'd say. Have they been living together their whole lives without having any issues with each other?

I only ask cos 2 males kept together can often fight, leading to them having to be separated, which means 2 of everything.

I don't mean to imply that the person you're getting them from is trying one on or anything, but you should be aware of things like this before you take them on.

Turtles can be a very very expensive business, especially those with larger adult sizes, like YBS!

Perhaps as you say you haven't seen them yet, you should before taking them on. As AnythingWithaShell says if they are as old as you've been told they can probably be sexed. If both are male they will probably have to live separately. If one is a female, the male will pester her, and if one or both are female they could get bigger! Mine have outgrown 2 tanks already and live in a pond outside, but are now inside for the winter.

I suspect they are a males, they said they have never seen them fighting each other they get along well, they have never gone to bite the owner just hissed occasionally but are very inquisitive to the owner.
