Default just how big are your indoor enclosures?

Basically as the title says, how big are your indoor enclosures for your tort?s, whilst my tort is in hibernation im thinking of giving a bigger enclosure. A 12 foot by 6 foot one to be exact.

I feel this should give him all the space he needs for a longggg time!

Blimey! That's huge! Are you just filling your lounge with substrate?

Mine are in 5ft by 4ft. They only spend a 2-3 months a year in it though.

i have 9 tables that are 3 ft by 9 1/2ft long, but it depends how many and size of the tortoises, mine are only on the tables for 2 months a year the rest of the time there in heated greenhouses with large planted enclosures, as they need as much unfiltered sun light.

Haha! ... im giving him like the end section of my loft, when its done in a few months. Currently hes only in like a 4 and half foot by 2 foot as he spends most of his time in an outdoor one.

But im not confident enough atm to put him outside next year as just lately theres been a spree of burglaries in the local area and darent risk it as im out alot of the time with no one at home.

Also theres been a few grey squirrels in my garden!, whilst the enclosure is pretty secure im abit scared they might find a way to get it open and hurt my poor norman wisdom! haha.

My outdoor enclosures lock, otherwise I wouldn't risk leaving them out at all! It's a shame that you have to think that way, but you do.

12'x6' is a pretty good space for one tortoise. He'll love it!

yeah im hoping he'll enjoy i imagine he should, hes a pretty laid back tortoise lol.

and when its all complete, i know its not the same but there will be a window directly above his enclosure (loft window that flips round) ... so i can flip it open and he can be exposed to direct sunlight rather than been outside.

because when i leave him in his outdoor enclosure im constantly worried sick. and im not really a worrier, some people just have to spoil it for the rest dont they.

Mine are currently about 5ft x 3.5ft but next summer when they're out hubby will be building new ones about 9ft x 5ft (he doesnt know it yet though!!!) Mine are in them for a few weeks after hibernation and pre hibernation and thats about it really. We're very lucky with our back garden as its really secluded so they live out from Spring right through to Autumn near enough

That's pretty much the same as mine except I give them a few days inside sporadically in the more miserable weather throughout summer.

Yep there's the odd day here and there but we're normally fairly lucky down this end with the weather
