Default Hibernating Torts

I hope noone minds but can I just remind anyone with hibernating torts whether they are in a box or in a fridge to keep a very close eye on the temps in this cold weather. Even a fridge can be affected by the cold and also to stress how important it is to check on your torts at least once a day, more if the weather is very bad, we check on ours who are in the shed morning/noon and last thing at night, this may sound excessive but I have a heater on in there to mantain a temp of between 4-5 and if it went out the temps would soon drop, also to have some sort of back up plan in case of a power cut.

Think its a good idea Ann to post a reminder

My torty fridge is in my kitchen so we all tend to check it every time we go in the kitchen - even the children shout the temps out to us now - my family are well trained!!!

Just incase people didnt realise if the fridge temps do go down to under 3 temporarily if you open the door to waft a new bit of air in the temps will rise back up again. I didnt realise this last year until someone told me and I was in a bit of a paddy - a simple fact but could save you getting into a paddy like I did
