Default Transporting poo?

This is probably a really silly question, but I am planning on taking my 2 tortoises to the vet soon for a check up and wanted to have their poo tested, how do I transport it? Does it have to be in a little water, or does it have to be dry?

I dont think it needs to be in water. Make sure its the freshest one you can find cos if its too old the test could be inconclusive. Maybe check with the vet how young the poo should be (that sounds so wrong!!)

You could stick it in a matchbox or little tuperware pot or something like that. Hope your torty is okay

A very silly answer would be to transport it in a PooMobile...

Ignore me though...It's been a very long day...

I would also like to know the answer to this as I am gonna take my tort to the vet next week for a once over and want to take a poo sample too ...

You could also use a urine sample bottle if, like me, you have a few spares kicking around...

They also have handy labels so you can write who the poo came from, if you have more than 1 poo machine

Hi,

I also put the torts poo in a Urine sample bottle, sealed it tight and left it in their room overnight and it tested fine.

As Mrs M says try and get a fresh or relativley fresh sample.

When I took my beardie to the vets I used a clean Medican cup and then covered it in cling film. Worked alright!

Hope the torts okay!

se a sample pot. if you have more than one torts in one enclosure then you can put a sample from each into the same pot ( pooled sample) and you can do one pooled sample for each species.

I collect fresh poo into a sterile sample pot and add a little damp cotton wool to keep it moist. then keep it in the fridge overnight and get it delivered asap.

there is a link in general herp chat for a lab that does the fecal samples for a few £. can save a fortune.
