Looking great Dont forget to make room for a water dish/bowl and personally I wouldn't use the slate under the basking spot - wasn't sure where you were going to put the light. Also keep an eye and check out that Taylor doesn't get stressed with the plastic/clear side of the table - lots of tortoises get stressy if they can see out. You might need to move things around a bit once you have Tayor - its difficult to tell until te tortoise is in the table whether it'd be able to get on top of anything that is near he sides - the climb and clamber a lot and can either fall and end up on their backs or climb right up and manage to get out. Sorry if Im sounding negative but I thought it was best to say

Well done Jasmine - you've put in lots of hard work

Ann your kids are amazing! I wish your were my mum when I was a kid, I would have loved to have so many opportunities to have some pets like Jazzy & James do. I've never known 2 kids as patient and as clever and calm as they are. They are truly wonderful I wish more kids were like them. Taylor is going to be one happy tort

no offence taken yes i know we need to move things abit but jazzy desperately wanted to make a start yes i was going to have lamp above the slate i was told it would be ok but we can move it taylor wont be able to see out as where its going in her room it will be covered
we are thinking of adding to the sides to make it higher once we have taylor we will have more idea on what we need to do

thanks hun yes james and jazzy have their moments but i have to say when it comes to their pets they put in all the hard work and even their own money
yes im hoping taylor will be happy with us as soon as its got over the shock of i belong to jazzy and god i hope taylor likes jazzy as jazzy told me today she is going to be spending alot of time with her, jazzy is planning to watch tv together and shes going to read taylor stories so im told as tortoises like stories and they like to watch movies but they dont like scary movies or boy movies as tortoises think those movies are rubbish

I too get very excited with new pets although Im old enough to know better!!!

If the slate is a thick one it'll be fine under the lamp (the thin ones get too hot)

If Taylor is a Horsfield then yep I'd definately increase the height of the sides and also have the substrate as deep as you can allow as he/she will like to dig and bury and burrow - my indoor substrate for Mr Harries is about 10" deep.

Figners crossed the time passes nice and quickly

I think the slate's thick enough, it's just a case of getting the temps right- raising/lowering the light as needed. This is going to be one spoiled tortoise!
